#5 - National Gallery of Canada
Take a step back and enjoy the art! The National Gallery of Canada is too often pegged as a destination for tourists, when it boasts one of the largest and most diverse art collections in the nation.
The National Art Gallery is designed to not only host art inside of it, but be a work of art by itself. This building is easily one of the best places to get some of the most beautiful pictures of the city. All four seasons present a completely different take on the nation's capital and are just waiting to get their photo taken! We recommend if you're in the area that you visit Nepean Point, immediately beside the Gallery, for some extra special shots.
Right now the Gallery is hosting the Canada Biennial Exhibit which features Canada through the lens of its artists. It is a must see interactive exhibit that will leave you thinking and in awe of what can be done through art.
Even if you're not in the mood to explore the exhibits, the National Gallery actually also hosts a small cafe in a inspiring glass lobby with comfy chairs and a quiet space. So if you just got to hammer out a paper and need a nice view and a cup of Joe, this might just be the spot! There's not cost to enter this part of the gallery, just come in the main entrance and walk straight up the Great Hall.
Parking at the gallery can be expensive, but being right next to the Byward Market presents a number of much lower cost and convenient parking options.
